UPDATE - tried new plugs, no difference. In fact, during my short test run, the motor began running too rich again both in the midrange and full throttle. For the brief moments that it did run smooth at full throttle, it still was unable to plane off the boat. This is very frustrating...I hope this motor is not shot. I don't know how it could be...it ran great in the test tank at the dealer, through the full rpm range. It is clean under the cowl with no signs of heavy use or many hours (ex. gaskets are still painted and dry).<br /><br />I give up. It is going back to the dealer on Sunday.<br /><br />Believe it or not, this is my second attempt to get a motor on my boat this year. My first attempt was a Gamefisher 9.9 that was supposedly brand new and never run. It came to me with a broken crank, rod, or something like that. It is in the process of getting fixed. <br /><br />What a horrible and expensive stretch of bad luck. I have spent over $2000 so far this spring just to try to get a motor on this boat that will see about 20 hrs. of use per year.
