I was wondering where I can get the hydraulic parts for my trim motor. Was on the lake today and motor stayed down and would not trim up. I hear a click and that’s all but trims down fine. Any information would be appreciated thanks
Might just be a relay . If your lucky you may be able to swap over the up relay for the down and see if the fault follows the relay . You could also use a volt meter to see if both relays are working.
There is only one trim motor that spins one way for up and tother way for down ...ergo , if the motor goes down it must be ok and the fault is most likely an up relay . The relays decide the polarity of the current flow supplied to the trim motor to give you up or down .
no , ergo means " there for " ( its latin ) . I dont know where the relays are situated , but here are some
Basically little square boxes that plug in , most probly near the electrical connection bits on the side of your motor cylinder block .
Do you have the PTT with the trim pump and reservoir in the boat? If so, you can have one or two solenoids. The UP circuit will definitely have a solenoid, but the DOWN circuit may or may not have one.
I never had a solenoid go bad on that type of system, so first check the connections from the battery to the PTT pump solenoid. Then check to make sure the solenoid is getting +12VDC when the trim button is pushed. Do you still have the 3 button panel?
I believe it’s a 1979 80 HP Mercury 4832469 and the pump is inside boat. It was working on the lake but then stopped, had to lift from inside.. what a pain in the back lol. Think I have two solenoids and I control from the throttle up front. I hear a click for up and it goes down ok.
