Does anyone know where I can get IPBs (Illustranted Parts Breakdowns), schematics, and parts for a 1980 Johnson trolling motor on the Internet? Mine is way overdue for preventive maintenance and I'd prefer not to go in blind. I assume Johnson trolling motors are no longer in production because I can't "Google" one up but have no idea whether or not there are aftermarket parts available. "Googling" yields little to nothing even in used components. No electrical problems yet, just some mechanical wear. Still plenty strong after all these years and quite sufficient for my boat and fishing requirements.

I need a replacement, plexiglass/lexan medallion or cover that fits over the direction indicator in the head. Other than that, my main replacement parts worry at the moment is props. I never broke one on a previous Johnson in spite of plenty of abuse but this one is old and may be brittle—submerged rip-rap, cypress knees, and timber are prop killers. Will any other brand prop fit and perform properly?

If this is posted improperly and needs to be removed, I can be reached email at oldtimer@oldtimerscoffeehouse.com.

Thanks,
Oldetymer

probably needs to be posted under electronics oldetymer. You'll get faster and better responses there.
