80W-90 Gear Oil OK in 90hp Merc?

Hello Everyone,

Just had a quick question for I found a variety of answers online. I bought the Quicksilver Premium Gear Oil for my 1994 90hp ELPTO but didn't realize that it says "for use in all outboard...below 75hp". Would this be OK for a 90hp? Or is it not a good idea?

With 80-90 multigrade should have no issues, change it every 100 metered worked hours.

Where did you buy it? Take the Premium 80-90 for below 75hp back and get the High Performance 90 for above 75hp gear oil.

15 HP is not going to make that much difference in which oil you use. I'd use it. JMO.
