First i want to be clear if grady white boats are as good overall quality as they look?

Now on Ebay i saw this 1981 19feet tarpon gradywhite for $4995, the boat looks to be in good condition as stated on photos. Then i look up at www.nada.com and the boat Value comes out at $1500 for the age. My question is what the seller smoke? cause darn it at these prices i wont be able to get any old but decent boat, i thought it might be worth Maximun $3000 but no $5000?? beside that all the boats i see posted on ebay are overpriced and i cant afford too much. I guess i dont have other option than find 1 local

they are good rugged boats, with a great reputation. just like the boston whaler, they hold there value longer. a 20 old whaler can sell today for what it sold for new. boats have gotten so expensive. i am seeing a lot of older boats, with new power plants. they have a good serviceable boat, and it more economical to repower, if the plan to keep it. i have a friend that just spent over $10,000 to repower a 1985 boat. it would have been$50,000 to replace it.

NADA is always way off on boat and outboard prices. So much so that I don't even know why they bother to list them. Your local market will determine the price.

+1 on what he said /\ /\ /\. :D

I bought my '95 Skeeter 200SL Fish n' Ski for around $8000 with a '94 Vindicator 200 with very low hours, and a tandem trailer w/ brakes. The insurance guy came out to sign me up for insurance on her, and he estimated my boat to be worth $13500 in the condition it is in. NADA for my boat is around $7500, the engine is valued at $2000, and my trailer is valued at $2000. In my case the seller wanted to sell it for a little above NADA without taking the other stuff into consideration. I guess I got lucky. :)

Its like the boat in my avatar. I have about 3k in it after transom rebuild and upgrades.
I found the exact same boat for sale about an hour from me with a newer motor and trailer.the asking price is 10k. Nada value is about 1/3 of that.

I've now on my 3rd Grady White in the last 10 years.

Throw NADA away when it comes to Grady. I sold my 1986 Overnighter last year in 1 week at $12.5K.

If the hull is in decent shape and the transom is OK he'll get that money for that hull.
