is it poss. and how hard would it be to do
if poss. where can a guy get parts at a good price?

#173964 is the number for the electric start at engine kit.It's $400.00. I usually tell my customers to see if they can locate a 'broken' motor that allready has it,and buy the whole thing or just the parts.

search ebay for starter motors. most come with brackets.

i got one to replace my broken bracket that came with a good starter motor, i dont think it was more than 40$. you can use almost any starter solenoid and if your good at wiring it shouldnt be hard.

I'm looking for a starter kit for my 1999 Evinrude 8 hp 4 cycle outboard, which I just bought used. This motor was manufactured 10/1998, and it has a place where the starter motor fits. I would like to upgrade to electric start but the local Evinrude dealer says that starter kits begin with the 9.9 hp models. I know that some of the 8 hp models came with electric start because it is referred to in the owner's manual.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
