Making progress on some of the things I thought would be done before it got to cold. New transom finally in as of last weekend.

I filled in around the sides with PL today but ran out. I cut out the first stringer today using the Oops post and scribe method.

I keep putting off the remainder of grinding, this week I hope to finish and clean out all the dust. Im taking small steps but enjoying the build like the way it is supposed to go.

You are doing a nice job man. Go ahead and get the grinding done. Trust me you'll be glad to get it behind you. Keep looking for that 150. I don't think you'll be happy with anything less. I wouldn't, not on a boat that size and weight.

Being new to this also, What is the Oops post and scribe method? I need to replace the stringers in mine also.

If you do a search on "Oops hull extension" in the search at the top of the page you will find a must read thread with tons of information in it. I believe he indexed everything on the first page so you can jump right to the post and scribe method. When you have enough time definetly read the whole thread. I think Bigredrhino also had a good description on his Checkmate thread.

Hey Vert...Your works look great! And to answer your question, Yes 1/2 thin wall PVC was used through the bulkheads for drainage.

not to get ahead of things...what are your plans on the fiberglass (faded bad) are you repainting or gonna try polishing it out?

I really like that car port you found. Great Idea.
I wanted to put mine in the garage but my wife wouldn't even consider it.
You should have seen the look I got when I suggested the basement.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the compliments. Yea the red gelcoat on the hull is faded but I used 3m wax/compound restorer and it turned out pretty good so I will leave the bottom half for now. The top is going to be painted a gray after I fill all the old holes. I just got in from out back and made some good progress today.
I ground down the old fiberglass where the stringers sit and was able to lay a level to the side of the hull to where the old deck used to sit and establish stringer height.

Snapped a line down the stringer and cut it. Then I broke out the borrowed router and rounded the tops. Thats my helper in the backround.

Then I cut some half round holes in the back of stringers so water could run out. The second picture it looks like the hole is to high, but I think the stringer moved a little but the black line is where the hull is before it steps down to the bilge area.

Then I cut out the bulkheads using the post and scribe method to get the contour of the hull. I also rounded the tops with the router.

After work this week I will coat them with epoxy if its not to cold.

How are you going to seal the inside of the holes? Are you just using resin or resin and glass?

looks like you made some good progress yesterday your doing a great job. Did you ever hook up with the Local guy I told you about for material? I haven't been there lately cause my boat is on hold, heating season is here and been working too much to even look at it

Thanks Bob, the holes will be covered in resin and then I will attempt to glass them.
HVAC I have not had a chance to make it there yet, been a little tight with $$$ and dont know if I should wait till spring to glass because of the temp or just continue along and pick up some sort of heater. Not sure how the car tent will hold any sort of heat in? Defenetly want to get the transom covered before december so I can bed the stringers, bulkheads and cut the deck out. I can also fill the holes in the cap and prep it for paint, gas tank, wiring, come up with a motor, and plenty other stuff to do over the winter. It sure does sound like I am putting off the glass work though, I am a little nervous.

If you want I have a 55,000 BTU kerosene jet heater (salamander) you can borrow to get what you need to get done, done. I'll be at my shop in Bohemia today prepping for tomorrows job if you want to grab it.

Since I have been procrastinating on the fiberglass part of the resto ($$$), I started messing around with the helm area. I picked up a piece of star board to replace some wood that the guages were set in. It is real easy to cut and will never rot although rather pricey for a small piece.

I still need to get a belt sander and clean up the edges and put a small mitre on some of the edges. A friend of mine gave me a bunch of 1/2" pieces of fiberglass covered plywood that they use to make box trucks out of and I thought it would be perfect for bow ares seats and small areas that will be coverd with upholestry. So I used some to make a few pieces to replace the glove compartment area. Real nice stuff just need to epoxy the edges and your good to go.

I also wanted to ask about the fiberglass ply. I don't remember ever seeing that either. I found some phenolic covered ply but it is real pricey too.

Tha starboard that I made the guage cluster from can be bought at any marine parts store or I know ebay has some pieces. The fiberglass covered plywood is literally pieces cut from the back of a box truck.
