hey guys,
ive got a 1981 Evinrude 150 with a fairly recent rebuild. when i take it out it will usually do fine for 15 to 20 minutes under half throttle. after that it will cut out. sometimes it will bog down for 5 or 10 seconds before cutting out. and it seems that when i try to go faster it will die quicker. i can let it sit for about 15 - 30 minutes and it will crank and run fine but it will do it again before too long. i have replaced the fuel pumps because of advice from a mechanic, but it did not help me. i have been told a bad temp sensor could be the problem, but i'm not sure. please help!

When was the last time the carbs were removed, cleaned thoroughly and rebuilt?

I am not sure, i bought the boat last summer and the owner told me the motor had been rebuilt recently. i am assuming the carbs were checked then but i'm not sure.

Not unusual to have ignition problems when the engine gets hot. That's when electrical components tend to fail. Take a timing light with you and when it starts to cut out, put the light on each plug wire and see if you get constant, bright flashes. Looks for intermittent, weak or no fire problems in the flashes.

i figured if it was a ignition problem a miss would be felt or heard, instead of it just running one second fine and then not the next. Next time i go out ill give it a shot though

Do you have a primer bulb on your tank?
