Do you think the 75-90lbs of water pressure from your house piping could have just held the tstat open??

Do you think the cam is broke in completely?

Also, have you thought about installing an oil drain hose? I like the idea of draining the oil without having to pull it through the dip stick.

No I do not think the cam is broken in right. I just hope I have not done any damage. Being that I do not have a very aggressive cam profile, I hope it will be ok.

I plan on installing it this weekend as long as the weather holds out.

Clockwatcher, I thought about the drain hose but no one has one in stock right now. I have goo access around my oil pan to add one later.

I just installed the transom assembly and did my gimbal bearing to day. The plan is to drop the engine in this weekend. I will have some video and pictures up in a bit.

I think you'll be glad you stayed with the standard exhaust.

I did their free rental program. They charge you for the tool and then when you bring it back you get your money back. Pretty cool.

Jay - Did you have a gasket that went between the exhaust y-pipe & the outlet through the transom?

I think mine was leaking through there, and there wasn't one...and for what its worth, that foam gasket is a PIA...I can see it in my near future!

There are three little rubber o-rings that go between the two. I got some new ones at my local boat house.

I hit Rob and I hit AutoZone tonight and they had the puller. It made life a lot easier, Thanks for the tip.
I had the same problem on the foam seal. Kinda like fighting with snakes or that game at the fair with the gofers. You get it in at one place and it pops out at another, What a PIA.

I have a conundrum. I had planned on installing the engine tomorrow but it is supposed to storm tonight and then snow in the late afternoon or evening. We will then have a couple of days of temps that are right at freezing for the next couple of days.

My two options.

1. Drain the block, and manifolds of any water and see if I can get it installed before it gets too cold.
2. just wait until next weekend and loose another week of tuning.

since the engine is out now I would just drain it seems like it would be pretty easy to do out of the boat. Then you could get it installed and work on wireing, or any of the other to do's until it warms back up and you can run it again.
