82 35hp rude acts like it hits a log at half throttle

I posted before and didn't get much help on this. Only help was possible clutch dog bad..I replaced and same problem. I need more ideas.. This does it at half throttle or more.Could it be a power pack starting to go bad??coil??It really runs good except for this problem..

If you only replaced the cluch dog,you may have to replace the forward gear. Once the surface's become rounded off, both have to be replaced. As you discribe the problem, it sounds like your engine is slipping out of gear.

Once you have ruled out the gearcase check for fuel delivery issues.Next time you watertest the engine try pumping the primer bulb and see if it responds.If so you're fuel pump may be on its way out.If not ,try bumping the key primer(if equipped)repeatedly and see if the engine picks up.If so,you may have restricted carburetors.If not,perform a spark test at cranking speed with a well charged battery and insure both sparkplug leads will jump a 7/16" gap to ground with a crisp blue spark.<br /><br />As mentioned above,if the gear lobes are worn down,you still have a gearcase issue.Does the engine seem to increase momentarily in rpms when it is bucking?

I had the boat mechanic where I got the parts look at all of it and he did not think there was anything wrong with the forward gear.He said actually the clutch dog didn't look too bad. He has seeen them alot worse and still worked. Everybody has ideas. I have a question about that forward gear. Is it the first one you get out of the case? Looking at the gear itself it looks like new,but where the clutch dogs lug into the gear it is a little jimmed. It sure feels like it jumping out of gear but I want to check other options before I tear it down again.

If its remote controlled, are you sure the cables are adjusted properly and your remote box shifts all the way into forward. No matter how good gear and dog is, it will jump if its on the edge. I'd recheck.
