Recently joined a new club, believe it is the "forgot the hull plug @ launch" club. Naturally, my "new" boat took on water by the time I came screaming back with the trailer. Everything worked well that day, but now have issues with power trim. I only hear solenoid strike when activating the triggers (rear & throttle). Thought it was bad batt, so went to recharge and found water in my battery holders, meaning that I took on more water than had thought. Batt's are @ 100%, but now worried about electrical gremlins. Have not progressed farther than here.

Questions would be:
  • Could this just be a fuse issue?
  • Possibly a trim motor issue (hydraulic)?
  • What other issues should I now expect?
  • What are the tolerances to the electrical systems?
  • Other than the DIY books, any online resources?
Thanks for hearing me out. First time buyer, beginner experience.

These are engine issues. What engine do you have?

Re: 82 Ranger 350v trim troubles

Thanks for picking up the thread, John. I believe that it is an two-stroke 82 Mercury Black Max 150 with X/hrs on it. May have mis-stated the problem. What I call the "power trim" are the two buttons (throttle & aft) that control the the tilt of the outboard motor, tilting it up & down in the water and after trailering. Sorry if I had the incorrect verbiage or posted to the wrong theater. b
