Re: 82 searay transom& enginebed replacment
capt....it looks like your doin fine......
did you take mesurements of the old stringer system and lay out?...ie height. legnth?
i have mine if you need...it might be a little different as i think your beam is wider...im 7 feet.
go buy your plywood now....and keep it in a warm dry place...it needs to be
DRY or the resin wont stick......it will be wet when it comes from the store...i dont care how dry it looks. if you have a fan...use it on the plywood...
check this link...

after the demolition....you will need to bring out the grinder....and clean off anything that might be dirty. if there is any resin without glass in the bilge. or around the stringer placements. it has to come out....
resin by it self is weak...very weak....
after grinding....use a rag soaked with acetone and clean every inch of the area..........after the acetone flashes off....climb in there and have a close look....really close look...see any spots you missed?
next rough and scuff the transom area. claen with acetone..
that will hold you for now.....also read erikgreen's thread ...hes doin a super job on his sea ray....it is close to the same size of yours.....
after thats all done ...pm me and we'll walk you thru building the new transom and installing it......
do the transome before you do the strings and the engine bed....
cheers bud.......the worst is allmost over..

oops
