motor will start fine-run across lake,start to slow down-motor dies,doesnt want to start again.new impeller,plugs,hose etc.did not run gas out of carb last yr.-could this be the problem?im lost,been stranded twice already.any suggestions???
first time it died-i noticed earlier in the day water pump was not working good-i changed impeller&am sure it did not over heat to cause any damage to cylinders-could something else have fried?still seems like a fuel problem,had jets adjusted by reputable mechanic-ran it in a barrel for 2 hrs.-no problems.
Usually pumping the primer bulb will by pass the fuel pump.
The only carb adjustment is for slow speed.
The problem still occours after the water pump was replaced?
yes-have tried old hose&no difference.could something have gummed up carb over winter?should i rip carb apart?should i try new gas-seems too obvious-cruiseaday had 1/3 tank in it last fall w/stabilizer-added new gas.????????????
yesterday fishing w/ my 11 yr. old daughter when it wouldnt start,the lake started whipping up,raining-i stepped on livewell hose& it broke off& i started taking on water-after freaking out& getting it reattached-I WANTED TO UNHOOK THAT MOTOR & DROP IT 140 FT. TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LAKE!!!!
It only takes fuel, spark and compression to make your engine run. Since it does run at times I would think the compression is ok. That leaves fuel and spark. Is it electric start?
Might have to check spark when it fails, may try squirting fuel mixture in carb when it stalls and see if it fires.
yes-its electric start-choke it-it fires but it dies right away after pushing choke in or leaving it out-taking it in tomorrow -will advise on tips, make sure he checks bottom jet-THANKS AGAIN>
Hey davie-thanks for the help-we took carb off, soaked it overnight,sprayed it & blew it out & she ran like a million bucks for my dad & me for the last 4 days-next fall i ll be sure to fog it .thanks again.
