83 Johnson powerhead

Hello I have an 83 Johnson 50hp tiller steer. The lower cylinder cracked and now I need to find a powerhead. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what other models or years might work as a bolt on option for me.

The direct replacement would be for 1983 & 1984 model years, 40, 50 & 60 hp 2-cylinder models. However, I believe models from a few years either side of that could be made to work, too, as the base gasket was the same from about 1980 up into the 1990s. Differences are likely in how various bolt-ons are mounted, bosses cast, etc. You won't really know until you get them side-by-each and compare.
