When cruising around I try to Keep the RPM's around 5200-5400 keeps the boat on a good plane doing about 48-50kmh. But every now and then it will drop anywhere from 1000-1500rpm with no spuddering, missfiring or warning. it will stay like this for a couple moments and then jump back up to were I had it befor. But after it does this the first time it will do it on and off for the rest of the day. At first if i opend the oil fill on the cover it would pick right up and go, but after a couple days of this it didnt help. I then removed the cover and the motor ran fine for the rest of the day like this.

last time I had the boat out it ran fine all day but then cut out on me and wouldent even crank over, as it turns out the fuse blow replaced it and was on my way, but felt laggy and had a serious lack of power with stalling idling in gear.

The motor is a 83 Suzuki DT140 oil injected motor pushing a 17.5' Campion 180 Alert Hard Top.
Any help would be great, Thanks in advance.

Re: '83 Suzuki dt140 RPM/Power loss

could be loosing spark on some cylinders, timing is not advancing properly, or fuel related problems(pump or carbs)

Check to make sure your alarm system is operating properly

Then start testing to see what you can find

Compression, spark, timing, fuel pressure/vacuum, check for torn pump diaphragm, and the pull and clean carbs if no problems have been found in the others

It also seems to start better when out of the water (hooked up to a hose) then it does when im warming it up at the launch....

What's involved in cleaning the carbs? just buy a gasket kit or rebuild kit?
