I am planning to buy a boat that has a 1,6 ltr SeaDrive from 1984.

Are there any possibility to either put on a stronger engine, or to replace the whole piece with a 135/140 v4 OMC, just keeping the bracket ?

If both option are possible, what is the easiest solution to do ?

Are there any big differences in fuel usage btw the 1,6 and 2,0 ltr V4's ?

If you looking to change it out ,the BEST and easiest way is ,buy an Aluminum bracket ,and mount it to your transome. You might get one a a salvage yard used ,or new.The Seadrive bracket assy.is becoming hard to get parts for,the idea was good, but had drawbacks, one being the eng.sits too low, performance suffers and often the eng.takes in water. If you get a bracket ,you can them buy a OMC eng.either V4 or V6 that take the red plug connector, then you can reuse all your guages and harnesss without problem. If you have cable steering it can be used also,if hydraulic, you may need to change it.The holes in the transome from the seadrive are an easy fix with some plywood and epoxy. The new bracket should hide the patches, the differance between the engines are the larger is a looper design and has more power,I believe you can interchange at the mountings, but the engine will need to be totally disassembled

Yes ok, but is it possible to get a bigger OMC to fit on the 1,6 somehow, with the same bracket ?
