84 evinrude 75h no take off good idle exellent top end ?

i just bought boat. it idles great. it has a hard time getting on top of water, but once there it takes of like a rocket. i've changed plugs rebuilt carbs changed powerpac new fuel line. i'm stumped. the only thing i've noticed is there is a littled gas spitting back on top carb but not much. i tore carb down to check float and it was correct. i check reeve plates and i see no gaps. anybody have have any suggestions

did you ck the diaphragm in the fuel pump?

yes i even replaced the fuel pump.

I had a simular problem. Boat had a hairline crack in the hull and was holding a lot of water,<br />therefore, the motor had to work really hard to get it up on plane. But then it would scoot.

what size is the boat and what size and type of prop? you may need to add some vent holes in the wheel just forward of the prop blades.<br /> good luck and keep posting

the boat is a 15.03' del magic fbgls no leaks. when i first ran the boat i had no problems. during the first run was when it started acting up. this is why i did all the work that i mentioned.i figured maybe bad carbs, or gunk left in them.i have two exta props but the one on it is pretty new.

another thing that can cause a power loss is blockage in the exhaust
