84 merc just won't restart

I'll try posting this again... hopefully somebody with enough knowledge will be able to help me or steer me in the right direction. 84 merc. 4-cyl, 2-stroke, 50 hp. Starts great cold. Runs great. But after running for a while she just won't restart after sitting. I usually end up flooding the carbs trying to restart it. Any ideas why she would be so stubborn to restart after she's warmed up? Thanks.

how long since the last carb rebuild? more than 2 years? sounds like needle valves need changeing and float height re-checked. i change the needles every season and i put about 25hours a week on my motor- the rubber on the needles get distorted and the springs get compressed then they dont seal off the fuel when the bowl is full.

easy enought to do with kit ( has instructions ) for a beginner. and the first place i would start .
