'84 OMC Stringer tilt

I have a 5.7 OMC and the last 2 times I've had it at the lake it has hesitated when trying to put the outdrive in the down position. I had to "flick" the down switch 2 or 3 times to get the motor to activate.<br /><br />Is this somewhat normal or is it a sign of bad things to come?

That is not uncommon. Check the solenoid and the connections. OMC used spade connections on the wires comming out of the tilt motor. These can get corroded.
