tried the bolt method, used 5/8"?x4" bolt with 2 fender washers. got the flare started by running the nut down, and by using pliers and rolling the edge a little bit then sandwiched the whole thing together by tightening the hardware down. OVerall it worked good and cost $3 as apposed to the $30 dollar tool id only use once....

Glad to see it's all coming together for you. I'm waiting the first test run in the water...shouldn't be too far away now.

Hey Westex - Good to see your back at work. I'm in the process of finishing my stingers. When you wet out all your wood you just used resin right? You never added any hardener? Did you PL your stingers down before glassing them? Just trying to figure out my next move this weekend.

I wet out the ply with resin/hardenerjust no glass, I used peanut buter to glue the stringers in place before I glassed them in place

Thanks.. I'm going to get to work on it right now. oh and did you have any problems with the hull flexing outward? Mine bowed way out in the bow when I cut the old floor out. I used a ratchet strap to bring it back in to roughly the size of the cap.

Cost.jpg

I kept every receipt so far, every screw and bottle of glue, its all there and these are the figures so far for people that where questioning my sanity (including myself) I think im doing pretty good wouldn't you say? The parts include the new $380 seats I bought, still need carpet cost and new gauges to add to this total.... Most of the other cost are done and paid for....

sprayed the 1/2?x10'-0 sched 40 pipe with WD40 to create small channel along the stringer fillet that when pulled out from the cured foam will leave a gap to allow water to drain to the back of the boat (in theory) its worth a try

Are the small wood strips perpendicular to the stringers, those inside the compartments, what are they for? To hold the stringer in place temporarily?

No rockitsauce, they where there when I tore out all the foam so I peanut buttered new ones back in after I cut out the old rotten ones.

Oh ok, I just didnt understand what they do unless its another hull/stringer connection. My '93 Strtatos does not have them. It did however have the same 1x4s across the deck as yours and mine were unlaminated, raw wood which held water really well and made certain the stringers that they sat on held water well too.

What a great thread! I've just started a damage repair and resto project on my Champion bass boat. I'll document what I do with pictures, but I'm sure I won't be as thorough as this one.

'79 Champion Bass Boat Resto

This thread is a great guide. I've subscribed to it for frequent reference.

in the meantime Im working on the motors reliability by cleaning the carbs and looking to replace the impeller and standard link and sync.
