Ok so I am out at a tournament pre fishing and I was running all day without issue. Then I hit a bit of a wake nothing major and the motor died. It no revs up to 5k in neutral but when in gear it only gets to 2k Rpms then starts to die and will quit unless I back off the throttle. I tried to slowly creep past 2k but as soon as I hit it it dies. Anyway I'm not sure if maybe something came loose or if something broke. I checked the resistance on all 4 coils and they all appear fine. Set ohmmeter at x200 and all 4 on both the plug wire and the secondary wire came in at 2.6. All 4 are the same. I have limited tools with me but if anyone has any ideas let me know. I am travelling down on hartwell lake and all the marinas are closed I had to idle back to the dock tonight haha. Fuel bulb seems fine and I don't see anything glaring having come undone. I also had previously disconnected the oil injection as the level sensors was bad and I jumped the white and black wires and as I said I ran perfectly fine all day without issues.

What it does in neutral means nothing, so don't rev it that high.

Coils need to be tested under load to actually see if they work correctly.

It's possible the timing advance came loose.

From your description of the problem I would clean the carbs first.

Thanks, will need to do fuel diagnostics later when I have tools. Will also look at the spark advance. Could it be the CDI going into limp mode? I think buzzer has been disabled by prior owner is there a way to forcibly disable the limp mode function? Could it be going into limp mode for some reason? As I said I really don't have tools with me so anything too complex even if it's cure I won't be able to check or test or work on.
