85 120hp Johnson won't start

Help!<br /><br />Took out boat last weekend ran great Fri, Sat, Sunday morning out fishing with trolling motor decided to hit back shore of lake and motor wouldn't fire. Slapped new pluggs in, drained gas out of fuel system, drained fuel tank (primered up system), drained oil out of tank and purged lines, checked for spark (good), fuel in getting to pistons (eventually flooding out), checked compression (good), while cranking engine over only once in awhile do I get a short engine firing. Anyone with any advise would greatly be appreciated. thanks

Hello:<br />Tough problem. Sounds like you have covered the obvious stuff.<br />What we usually find when a boat just quits in mid day, is a power pack. I have seen where the engine fire's well on a spark checker, but under load in the cylinder will not. Check your ground to your Pack, make sure it is clean. If still no luck.<br />Have a local dealer who has a Stevens CD-77 meter with a PL-88 load tester check the truness of your system.<br />Just a thought, hope it helps.<br />Good Luck, Rob

Try resetting the Emergency Start lever which is right up front on top of the carb.<br />It has two positions - one for regular starting with the ignitioin key and another position for starting manually.

is this an outboard?maybe an evinrude or a johnson,if so disconnect the starter primer solenoid,if this goes bad it squirts fuel everytime you go to start the motor which floods it out

I need to go back here and clearify what I was talking about,the whole page was not coming up,if fuel primer solinoid has gone bad it squirts fuel in to the motor even if you are not pushing the key in(choke)so the best easiest way to check it is squeeze the bulb till it's hard disconnect the 1 of the small lines at the primer while spinning the motor over(do not push in on the key) and see if it squrits fuel,if it does than you found where your flooding condition is coming from.
