my 85 150 runs like crap runs until it gets warm then dies. i replaced the water pump and no change its old and i havent ran it in a few years what do i do it needs i good tune up but i know nothing about out boards what do i do?

Basics to begin with.
Check,
Compression
Spark
Fuel delivery
Spark plug condition.

Read the top secret files at the top of page one of this section for information on how.
I would advise carb clean out and rebuild, change lower unit oil. Water pump you have already done. Read the ethanol poisoning information.
Post back your results and if you get it running better do a decarb.

Today's ethanol fuels attract water and over time, the fuel can go into phase separation. If the fuel in the boat is over 6 months old, get rid of it. Get an original factory service manual from Ken Cook Co., in Milwaukee. They are on the web also.
