Mine is electric start and does have an alternator. But it don't have a gray wire.

Well, I got the tach hooked up last night and took the boat out.

My rpm's

Second hole from the bottom - 5900
Third hole from the bottom - 6150
Fourth hole from the bottom - 6100

Does this mean that I should go up to a 10 x15 from my 10 x 13 prop?

Am I correct in that generally there is a 200 rpm drop per pitch?

How'd you hook it up w/out a gray wire?
As for rpm's, are these numbers you posted from your new boat? Remember, 4500-5500 @ WOT.

I hooked the pulse wire up to the yellow/gray wire.

These rpm's are from last night with my 1969 lund/shell lake 15 foot fiberglass tri-hull.

As far as I know my rpm's are supposed to be 5200-5800

where'd you hear that? I'm pretty sure the manual says 4500-5500.

From imported_F_R and from every place that I have looked for a prop.

What year are you talking about? My model number is E30TELCOA and is a 1985

offshore - do you have a copy of that manual on pdf or any way I could get a copy from you. Is your motor the same model and year as mine?

Well, I have good news. I got my new prop yesterday its a 10 X 15 and my rpms are now 5500. I still don't know my speed because I don't have a speedometer but it is noticable faster. So I am happy with this. Thanks to everyone for all of your help.
