'85 90 hp drive shaft seals

I need to replace the drive shaft seals on an '85 90HP evinrude. I'd like to know if a special tool is required to remove the prop hub and thrust bushing before I start the job.<br /><br />Thanks

The prop and the forward thrust washer will come right off. there is a special tool that will allow you to remove and install the shaft seals without removing the bearing carrier.<br /><br />As expensive as that tool is, I would just pay a shop the minimum charge to replace the seals using the tool. To drail the oil, change the seals, pressure and vacuume test and refill the unit can't take more than an hour.
