They didn't use the relay system until 87
Before that they used a heavier wire and a heavy duty switch(usually in the dash)

If you bought the cheap Chinese crap?? The motor might not work "EVER" :(
Then if the motor isn't the right one? You might have bought one for a newer model?
They have a 2 wire(later models) or the original 3 wire??

Post pics of what you bought.

i bought the same two wire pump. pump work straight off the battery but not the switch. but doesnt lift motor fluids is full. dont know where the pump is. In between the two rams there is a hex cap with a round center. Is that the piston and is supposed to move in and out.

i can't find the relays anywhere
perhaps instead of asking the same question in 3 different new topics you started, you should read the replies in this 1:

Your motor is a rebadged Chrysler,
there are no trim relays.

They didn't use the relay system until 87
Before that they used a heavier wire and a heavy duty switch(usually in the dash)

what year is the outboard?

Doesnt matter the year of Bayliner it is..... but for clarity, is your Bayliner an 85 or an 86? Listed both ways in the.various topics, that have now been merged or recently deleted

There is a test to determine if the pump is bad??
Read the first 3-4 posts and find the T@T repair/test posts.
You need t buy a couple of brake line fittings.

Some new motors have a short armature shaft?? You compare to the old one?

The pump is in the reservoir.
You have a 2 part lift system.
The hex thing with the center ram is for the trim part of the system.
The tilt is a hyd. cylinder.
There are 2 cyl. one is a shock the other the tilt ram.

If the motors turning and the pumps engaged it should do something??

The hyd. lines, the first one you can reach.
Undo the first line, not all the way, you just want it to leak.
Once it's loose, activate the motor and see if fluid comes out.
No?? then the pump seals might be bad??

There is NOTHING in the pump that you can fix.
DON'T take it apart or you'll be buying a new one.
There are 2 seals in the bottom that can be replaced but you can destroy them if not careful.
Read the whole repair section.
Then if you don't want to attempt a repair I can try to fix it for you.

They sell replacement pumps. The cheapo one might work for 1 minute or maybe a year
or not at all, that last happens a LOT!!

Not all motors have relays; the old Chrysler setup used heavy-gauge wire and a big-ass switch on the handle - all the current was routed all the way to the helm station and back to the trim motor. However, they changed that when they went to aftermarket controls that couldn't handle the current draw and besides light gauge wire was cheaper so they used relays. If your trim motor has ONLY two wires, it has relays to reverse polarity for up and down. Early motors were three wire with a black ground and a green and blue wire supplying the separate windings in the motor for up and down.
