85 evinrude 50 hp tilt trim crunching noise.

I have an 85 evinrude 50 hp with power tilt trim, I had to replace the motor and reservoir, I put the new fluid in it, cycled it up and down a few times. The problem is going up it makes a terrible crunching noise and the fluid is frothy with air. It sounds great coming down. any ideas? this is my first tilt trim experience.

Sounds to me like you need to bleed the air out. Cant compress air.

It is low on fluid. They are self bleeding. Check the system with the unit all the way up and BRACED.
