Hi craigharris,
Are you sure that you installed the impeller correctly?

Hi Craig

I made the mistake of not clearing the old pieces of the impeller out....another time I didnt line up the pickup tube just right and unknowingly cracked the housing....just a couple of ideas.

It is a pain to take the foot off and on, but you get good at it after a while.

If you have done all the things the others have said & still have overheat trouble, then pull the head it sounds like a blowen head gasket, them motor are knowen for that, have the head decked & install a new head gasket. also run a straight edge along the top of the motor to make sure that the sleeves have not sunk to far, & then you lose fire-ring presure on the head gasket, & then block must be decked if this is the case.

good luck.

If you deside to pull the head which is a great Idea, make sure to check & see if the water deflectors are all in good shape & in place, these are very important. and critical to the proper water flow through the motor.

good luck.
