85 horse Evenrude Motor won't power up when in gear.

My fuel line broke. I put the new one on, went back out and she started right up. I idled out past the no wake bouy, went to throttle up and she bogged down. Took it out of gear reved it up no problems. Put it back in gear, reved it up she boged down again, no power. Idles fine in gear, just can't speed up. When I do she bogs down. Any suggestions? Thank you....

Make sure your timing linkage is coming foreward with the throttle. You don't need to have the engine running to chgeck it. Just push your throttle all the way foreward and see if the timing linkage comes up against the stop screw.

I think you have a fuel flow problem.<br /> Be sure you have the fuel lines tight.<br /> And the primer bulb is the right way around and check valves are working right.Tank vent open and clear.If it runs better if you poke the choke<br />its a indication it is starving for fuel.

Walker, thanks for the reply. Steelespike thanks for yours. Although I asked for you advice....not your comment....Don't take a manual to put on a fuel line, unless you do?

I'm having the same problem, but it goes away after a few minutes of "poking the choke" (see my post below). Please let me knowif you figure uit out!
