Showing my rookie stripes (or lack there of)
1986 force 85 hp 2 or 4 stroke?
also Im assuming the proper mixture is 50:1
also I placed marine Sta-bil in the fuel tank premixed with 50:1 oil
will it hurt if I put in the sea foam in or should I wait for a fresh fuel tank with no Sta-bil in it.

I know these may be basic questions for you guys but I forgot since last season (first year OBing)
Thanks

Welcome aboard! :D

The engine you have is a two stroke and 50 to 1 is the proper oil to fuel mixture.

It won't hurt anything to add seafoam but you won't get the best effects from it that way. If you don't know the engine's history, you should give it a good decarb treatment. The instructions can be found on page two of the FAQ at the beginning of the maintenance forums.

And you should buy a Clymer Force Outboard Shop Manual as you will need it to keep these antiques properly maintained.;)

Regards,

John

I actually have a manual but it was a cd version and I think a miniature grimlin took it and hid it still looking for it
so you think I should put the seafoam in a clean tank of fuel with only oil mixture no stabil am I understanding you correctly?

No there is a porper procedure you must follow to correctly clean the carbon from the engine. Adding the sea foam as was said will not hurt but to do the proper decarbing you must follow the faq on how to decarb. Adding the seafoam now is just a pinch compaired to what the faq instructs you to do and must be done more often then none. If you do not know the history of the motor you need to "punch the carbon" not pinch it
