85 hp oil leak

I have a 1970 85 hp evinrude. I notice that it seems to have just a little oil leak running down the sides. Is this dangerous? it looks like straigt oil. Not much. I used a 50 to one mix. Is that right for that engine?

How far up the motor do you see oil running down the side? The only oil in the outboard is in the lower unit so if it's above that it's probably just 2 stroke oil.

Agreed. It's fuel/oil mix.

Your engine may be full of gunk. Do a "Decarb" described in FAQ's.

And BTW, the decarb will make it drip goo all over the place and smoke like crazy, that too is normal, so be prepared.
