85 hp tachometer wires

Hello
Today i have electric question.
It is back side of tachometer

The middle is ground, flat is positive, but where connect wire from motor. I thinks upper wire from engine and bottom positive ? Who know how connect tachometer on 1986 bayliner capri with outboard 1987 mercury force 85 hp?
And what can happens, if i connect it wrong? I will burn something?

Post a pic of the back of your tach.It should have all the post marked.There should be a gnd. send. and + Maybe.J
