A couple of things, the 85 will be 115 hp at the prop and the 77 will only be 90 hp at the prop so you are going to notice the power drop. Your 85 has the newer trim and tilt the 77 does not. If the 77 block is a running block why not just swap the blocks over. Bolt pattern is the same. The end caps are different on the two blocks and unless you have done a bunch of them you will run into problems trying to move the ADI system over to the non ADI block. You will not gain power by moving the electronics. The distributor system works just fine.

Thank's for the info. I didn't know there was a HP diff. I'll have to switch props for sure. Is there any way to get all 115hp out of the 77?? I'll be putting it on a 17ft ranger. I don't think 90hp will get it out of the hole with out switching props.

Our if the block is the same should I
take my internal parts out of the 85 and rebuild them and put them in the 77 block??

Unfortuneately the blocks are not quite the same. The 77 1150 will be a non power ported block whereas your cracked block s power ported and thats where the extra power comes from. I run a non power ported block on my 18foot bass boat, a little lighter than your ranger and turn a 20P laser 2 in ideal conditions and prop down to a 17p in rough weather. Speed is 45 mph.
hole shot is not an issue.
