85 Johnson 15 tiller - tether and prop guard wanted for kids

I just bought a mint condition 1985 Johnson, short shaft, tiller, rope start. I want to use it on my kids 11 foot avon inflatable. Since my kids are using it i would like to retro fit it with a tether. I would also like a prop guard and have found several on the internet, but not sure which ones are worth the money.

any comments?

Tether, yes, absolutely.
Good comfortable life jackets that they'll keep on, positively.
Prop guard.......eeeeh. I don't really know. I think that the coast guard stats show a couple of hundred prop strikes a year, and about 40 deaths. Based on the number of boating hours and boaters, that's almost at the noise level. But I do think that prop guard systems have improved since I looked at them last, so maybe there isn't such a large performance hit as there used to be.

Seadog makes a universal lanyard switch that will fit in the same hole as your push button kill switch. Real easy reto fit and they work well and it's on sale too. Best of luck. Rick.
