85 johnson losing power

Hi <br />We are new to boating .We have an 1985 Johnson 55 horsepower While cruising the engine will drop down to 1/2 the speed even though the throttle is wide open.We checked the screw inside that adjust the throttle bar But it only works for awhile then does it again?What should we do?<br />any suggestions would help<br /> <br /> my vita loca

Hi, Myvita.<br /><br />You are losing one cylinder.<br /><br />This problem has been covered about a dozen times recently.<br /><br />Do a search on loss of power.<br /><br />Good luck.

Thanks JB <br /> We will check out the throttle arms,they may be worn, or at least that seems to be what the search indicated. If that doesn't correct it then we will do the cylinder test. <br /><br />Thanks again<br />myvitaloca
