22 ft trophy with Volvo four banger,270 out drive. What can I expect for a top speed?.where should I limit it as far as running rpms. Heard it probably won't plane,how bad will the gas mileage be if it won't plane. Seems like a solid boat,good shape for her age. I'm older,and not into speed. Just fishing and diving. Just want to get there and back

Your engine is probably in the 140HP range. On a 22' boat (you didn't mention if it was a bow rider, center console, or walk-around cuddy (all are different weights). If trimmed properly, you can probably expect 28-30 cruising speed and around 38 at WOT. If it won't plane, your milage (and the plowing wake) are going to be terrible. Your RPMs should be around 3000-3200 cruising, but I don't know what your WOT RPM is.
