85esl 73m johnson troubleshooting

Having a bit of trouble figuring out this one.

First I had no spark, was working on that and now I lost cranking also. Checked for power at the start solenoid, Power there on both lugs for activating the solenoid.
Bench tested the solenoid and its fine. Cleaned, all grounds, and all power points, still won't crank. I can jump the solenoid, and it cranks fine. Makes no sense. The solenoid wont even click, bot it is transferring power. Where can I get a wiring schematic, and troubleshooting pdf for this thing. I'm pretty sure I have a wiring issue, as it always ran fine in the past.

Not a 85hp diagram, but the starting circuit you need should be the same Check the safety switch and neutral start switch.

Thanks for the diagram FR. That is helping already, as I was not sure where some of the wiring goes when it disappears in the harness. I see my neutral switch could be the culprit as of now. It may have gave up the ghost.... I'll find out tomorrow when I check it. Racerone,,All the fuses are checking out good at this point.

If you mean jump +ve to the solenoid small +ve terminal then i suspect a short in that wiring or back to the ignition.
Since you have lost spark as well first perhaps your key switch is failing but you will be able to confirm that by doing a few tests with that diagram

Turns out the neutral swatch went away, now for spark....I see the ign is sloppy.
