Hi folks,

From this forum, I learned the the SELOC book is not to be trusted. Unfortunately I bought it before I found the forum. Can someone verify the float setting for me? The SELOC measurment is 13/32 (.406) from the carb body to the top of the float.

As I don't want to burn my almost 25year old motor up, I am trying to verify that this is the correct measurment.

Thanks a bunch,

John from MD

That is the correct setting but it is much easier to invert the carb and set the bottom (actually top) of the float level with the carb casting.

I actually set them a little closer at the free end so the level is a tad high in running position. My theory is that it is better to be a little sich than a little lean.

Thanks for verifying the numbers Frank. I did set it upside down and at the extreme widest limit for the same reasons as you.

I just realized I mis-spoke when answering your message. I actually set the floats so that they will sit a tad higher which would be the narrowest limit.

It's late, I'm getting old and my medicine is working. <G>

Mechanic by trade, "Force Mechanic" by nature. I could never ignore a good challange. <G>

Are you from MD? If so, do you know about American Outboards?

I'm in southern md. I'm learning more about them as I go, using the forum to fill in the blanks.
