I did the telltale mod on my 1985, 85hp yesterday. When checking it out by running the motor with the cowling off, I noticed water dripping into the leg from what I'm calling the exhaust boot.......the rubber tube connecting the leg to the exhaust port on the upper leg. Should this be replaced or does it matter if it leaks a little? Looked around on the net and haven't found the part yet, any ideas where to look?

The telltale mod is very cool! Nice to have a visual on the impeller function.

Thanks in advance..........John

Thanks Unbalanced.....I'll order one and replace. Replacement looks pretty easy, anything I need to be aware of?

Nope, it's pretty simple. The block side is held on by a hose clamp and the internal spring holds the other end in a beveled hole. I put a dab of silicone around that end, but I'm not sure if that is totally nessasary.

Shove an old towel down below the boot before you start so you're not trying to grab that hose clamp with your fingertips after you drop it...
