I recently bought a Mecury 850 85HP serial number is 3873082. Now the gas line leading from the engine casing to the "little black box" on the engine block is getting gas just fine. I disconnected the hose leading from this "little black box" to the carbs. (i have two of them carbs that is) When i prime the gas line by squeezing the bulb plenty of gas comes through but when i try to blow on the hose leading into the carbs i cannot blow any air through. i was told that i should be able to blow some air through it. The only thing that could be clogging this line according to the previous owner of the engine is some rubber slivers. I cannot get to the connection where it hits the carb very easily *gotta take the starter off). is there anything out there that i can use to get this hose unclogged? maybe hooking it up to a air compressor and blowing harder or maybe sucking these shavings out? any suggestions?
