Here's the deal. I have this 1986 140hp evinrude that has 40 hours on a 1999 rebuild, It had been sitting for the last 2 years or so before I bought it.
The motor has a rough idle and while accelerating and full throttle the thing acts like it is dropping out a cyl off and on intermitantly. Compression check shows 130 psi on 3 out of 4 cyl. 115 psi on the last. When we squirted oil in the low cyl. the pressure came to 130.
With that being said...I have replaced the plugs, wires and installed a fuel/water seporator and new fuel lines on the boat. While out last time I pulled plug wires one at a time to see if the motor ran differently. The one cyl that had low compression did not effect the way it ran as much as the others. I cleaned up the coils and swapped them around and I can still lift the one wire without affecting the motor alot.
Now that I have rambled on...What do you think.

thanks 8up
