It's a long story but I thought the alarm was for temp, but turns out was for lack of fuel. So I changed the water pump. Worked fine with muffs in driveway. Took to lake idled about for a few minutes. Alarm went off, 3 beeps only. Then would not go past 2200 rpm when I hit the throttle. Did I screw up the install and have low pressure?

There are a number of types of warning horns on that engine: a constant horn is either an overheat or high fuel vacuum. Yours was an intermittent beep, which normally would relate to the oiling system.

You had an alarm for lack of fuel....and then changed the WATER pump? Was that a typo?

As I stated I originally thought the alarm was for temp. wasn't till after the install of the water pump did i find it was a vacuum in the fuel line from my 3 way valve.

What i have read it should beep for 10 sec every 20 sec for oil. This was just 3 beeps and no more. The fuel problem was a constant horn.

Found the problem, top carb not opening. plastic piece holding linkage turns so linkage moves out of slot then goes back in at neutral.
