The last couple times I have taken the boat out it has started on the first try at the ramp and has idled out of the no wake zone and then I open it up and it runs great throughout the rpm range for maybe 10 minutes or so and then bogs down. Then it will run at about 2000 rpm's at WOT for about a minute then dies all together and will not start again. When I get back to the house it runs just fine on the muffs. I took off the carbs and they are all clean and look to be in good condition. The temp switches are disconnected as is the VRO. The tell tale water isn't getting too hot so I don't think it's overheating. I won't even take it 1/4 mile away from the dock for fear of getting stranded. The manual says maybe the rectifier is bad and causes the stator to overheat and fail, has anyone else experienced this problem? I'd like to rule out the rectifier before I spend almost $300 that I don't need to.

Could be a heat related electrical failure. Get it to fail again and do a spark test. Could be a pack failing. If you find one side failing, switch packs and see if the failure follows the pack. You could also try getting it to fail on a hose by heating the packs individually with a heat gun or hair dryer. Could be trigger coil failure as well, but eliminate the packs first.

Could also be crap floating around plugging off a jet internally as well, but you gotta start somewhere....

I'd fix those temp switches before serious damage occurs.

i would check spark immediately on all cylinders, after it shuts down. if you have spark, you have an engine overheat problem, fix sensors, change tstats, and impeller.
