86 5.7 mercruiser to a 93 5.7 mercruiser

What would be needed to be changed to go from a 86 5.7 alpha1 sterndrive to just the motor from a 93? Basically i'm using just the block.Will everything bolt up to the 86 exsisting sterndrive or will i require a new flywheel/coupler?

Those blocks should be identical.
Everything should swap over just fine.

The 86 Should be a 2 pc. rear main Seal,+ the 93 is a 1pc........

The Flywheels,+ Couplers Are different,....... By a 1/4".........

Everything Else,..... Should be the Same......

What bondo says plus:

The heads on the 1993 will have the two center intake manifold bolts at an odd angle, so the 1986 intake will not fit the 1993 heads. (In case you end up needing the whole 1993 long block.)
