Re: 86-87 Johnson 110 Shutting Down

This may be a dumb question, but where is the anti-siphon valve?

Also, when I bought the hull 4 months ago I replace all fuel lines, and the water seperator and after the first primer bulb went flat, the second had something loose in it, I finally have one that works on it.

Thanks again for all of your help!!!

Anti-siphon valve is the fitting on the tank your hose connects to.

The anti-siphon valve is a spring-loaded ball bearing inside the fitting on the tank. It can be removed. It prevents fuel from being siphoned from the tank in case of a leak on the fuel lines.

Since most outboards are set up such that the fuel lines are above the top of the tank, the valve is generally not needed. The ball bearings easily stick, or partially stick, or become fouled, blocking the flow of fuel.

Many people simply remove the valve and keep the fitting.

Okay, so I took the boat out today and it ran great after the new fuel pump for about 30 min then it started to hesitate at high RPM, but only in tiny increments. Then about half way home she started to die off again...... This happened three times and then she ran great back to the ramp???? I dont get it.....anyone want to buy an 86 110 johnson? lol

Try running the engine on a portable tank,I'm assuming you have a built in fuel tank.Hopefully you know someone that has a boat that uses prtable tanks. This will eliminate a few problem areas. If you have run on a different tank and still have a problem, check the hose and fitting that comes off the fuel pump supplying the vacuum and pressure for the fuel pump.I have found these to plug up and restrict the amt of vac.pres.for high speed fuel delivery.

All of these guys have contributed good info...,I might throw in, get a glass jar and pull a fuel sample, looking for water...it sure sounds like a wtr prob to me,if no fuel restrictions have been found.
