I swear these boat don't want paint on them. Anyway, I'd caution you against the clear coat. It will make the inevitable touch ups more difficult in the future.

It's nothing I'd let stop me from using the boat, just be careful taking it off and putting it on the trailer and around docks. If you do ding it, you can touch it up after the paint cures... aluminum boats aint supposed to be that pretty anyway.;)

Haha you guys are awesome! I am putting the motor on today!

Thanks fellas! It's tough getting a motor out of the basement, up to the driveway, and onto the transom by yourself....

Yea it was tough but I had an engine hoist. Here's the electrical system. Made a box from radio shack components....

It's been a week since I painted and man the paint is sooooo much harder! So cool for that. Now I'm just trying to decide where to mount my SI transducer. Anyone here use side imaging?

Yea it does!! And since I use this boat for bass, striper and catfish my seats have to be able to spin around and face backward comfortably as well. I was happy with the hole saw. Nice clean tight hole for the seat pedestals. Lat time I used a jigsaw. Just didn't come out nearly as nicely. I must say I am glad that my dad is a class a contractor. It sure is nice having access to every tool known to man! I can't imagine how muh more this restoration would have costed me if I had to buy all the tools I needed!

Man, this is going to be a sweet catfishin' rig!

Have you decided on where on the console to mount the 898CSI? I have the same exact unit and would like to be able to rotate that big boy so that I can see it from the bow while drifting (or throwing the net at those suspended schools of bait! :thumb:)

Me too, I want to be able to see it from anywhere. Dude this is pretty crazy. We both have starcraft tinnies, 3 cyl johnsons and now the same electronics!!!
