Dudes!! Water test on this past Friday. Everything went perfectly! Tiny tach worked properly for the first time, and motor hauled!! Ran like a dream. I have a few videos I want to post as soon as I figure out how to post a vid from my iPhone to YouTube.

Re: '86 Aluminum Starcraft Restoration

Anyways, I had not put the air box (silencer) on yet due to ease of carb adjustment without it installed. Motor rev range is 5500-5800. Well, with all my gear and one other person onboard the motor was kicking at 6000rpms. I'm wondering if I install the air box if it will bring the Rpms down a hair? Otherwise I will set the carb stop a little tighter until I feel the need to get another prop. At 6k she was running a solid 37mph! The wheel was pulling quite a bit to the right so which way should I turn my trim tab?

Well unfortunately the fish were not turned on at all. We only caught crappie in the cast nets all day( which you can not fish with) and even the largemouth were limited on their bite.

Jig you should see some of the images I got on my hbird 898!! It was amazing. I had no interference at all and got accurate depth readings all the way to 37mph!

Sutor - :encouragement:

Four complaints and or comments.

1) Only 24 seconds showing that bad girl scooting on the water?

2) No HB SI screen shots? That's a double :mad:

3) On the right turning, adjust the tab to the left - from the rear of the boat. If it turns harder to the right, I meant turn the tab the other way. :embarassed:

4) Wait until you get the air box on and see what the WOT RPM is. Most likely - no change, but just in case.

Sounds like you are a happy TinHead in the Starmada Flotilla. :D

Congratulations Pete on a successful SPLASH!!!! You're only a prop and a trim tab adjustment away from being dialed-in!

That's good performance out of your motor. Maybe I missed it, but what year is the motor? Power trim?

Cool vid, Pete. I like the split screen 2D and SI. If you can't put fish on the hook with all that info take up knitting. I didn't know you could mark spots during the recording. That is an awesome feature. Go out for a romantic cruise and the whole time be honing your fishing experience. And the Admiral just thinks you're Don Juan. :watermelon:

I know right! Ill be recording while hanging with the wife. She'll be wondering why I keep visiting new areas! I was scanning a bridge and running side imagin right up under the bridge marking all types of critters. Then I noticed the old bridge thy used to be there. It was clear as day 20 feet away from te old bridge, 20 feet under water. We fished it and my buddy caught a 15ft long piece of steel rebar hahaha

Yea man I'm glad I didn't have any issues on the water or it would have been a terrible day. We coul not get the fish to bite for anything. And I forgot how hard it is to keep my super light tinny straight in the water during a light breeze. Can we say, drift buckets???

Re: '86 Aluminum Starcraft Restoration

Will my boat ever be finished? Of course not. I was hoping to get some input on bait tanks. I have $125 on a gift card from amazon, and was wondering about the todd enterprises KA24 bait well tank. It is 24 gallons, dimensions are 18" tall, and 20" diameter. It does not look insulated. Insulated tanks in this range are in the high $300 early $400. This tank can be had for around $135.Amazon.com: Buying Choices: Todd Enterprises KA24 #24 ROUND BAITWELL KODIAK BAIT TANK I was thinking about just wrapping the tank on warm days with this. Google Image Result for http://cfnewsads.thomasnet.com/images/large/010/10742.jpg Any input or experiences here guys?

Re: '86 Aluminum Starcraft Restoration

With a baitwell you have constant water circulating so insulation prolly not totally necessary ya know.
