So I pulled my lower unit to do a simple impeller job and my lower unit will not go back into the motor. I did some searching on the forums and found a few tips that I tried out with no luck. Everything is visually lined up and nothing is obstructing it that I can see, I've rotated the shaft to try to get the splines to line up (turned shaft about 1/16th of a turn for almost a full revolution), tried shifting it into forward and reverse, nothing seemed to work. Only issue I can think of is there were two rubber splined sleeves that I found in the shaft path when I went to put it back in, got the out of the way and attempted to insert the lower unit. The sleeves fit over the shaft splines so I am assuming that is where they came from but I am not sure. Please enlighten me.
