86 Mercury 115 dies when put in gear

I have a 1986 Mercury 115 outboard that keeps dying when put in gear. I have rebuilt carbs, changed plugs and replaced some of the fuel lines. It will start and run but will not hardly run under load. How does the enrichner valve work. It seems to be fed off of the top carb bowl, but i do not understand where the other hose on the valve goes to. Seems to go to a line that goes to the block. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the line on the card is the feed line the other line is injescting fuel strait to the cyclinder throught the intake for cold starts when u ingage the enricher valve

and check to make sure that you have fire on all six cyclinders the inline 6 was a very well balanced engine and sometimes can be hard to tell when it is misfiring may sound good out of the water but have no power in the water and usually if it is skipping it will be on at least 2 cyclinder and 99 % of the time it is a bad power pack

I will check the fire on all cylinders tonight or tomorrow to make sure i am getting ignition on all six. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know how it goes.

If the spark test goes well, you likely have the carb idle mixture set too lean. Richen it a bit until it will idle in gear and post back.

Initial setting are 1-1/2 turns out form lightly seated. It will normally idle in gear, roughly, at that setting.
