I bought a 15hp '87 sears gamefisher and I got it running very well. Anything that has been wrong with it, I have been able to fix or replace until now. Apparently there is a common problem of the "propeller shaft bearing cage" on these outboards breaking if they freeze. I have been using this motor to duck hunt alot this season in freezing weather and it broke. The threads around one of the ears cracked in half. No one locally has a part and Sears does not have any in any warehouse. the part number is A 286298-1. My motor's model no. is 225. 587151. The websites that I have checked from google do not have this part nor does ebay. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it possible to fix this? thank so much

Re: '87 15hp bearing cage

It could very likely be the same part as the Chrysler 9.9-15 HP engines. Contact franzmarine@aol.com or go over to The Chrysler Crew and ask. He has a link there. If anyone can help, he is the one.
